| The Cottontail Cobias Swim Team is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Head Mini Cobia Coach for the 2026 season. The Head Mini Cobia Coach is responsible for leading and developing the youngest swimmers on the team (typically ages 3–8). This role focuses on introducing basic swimming skills, fostering a love for the sport, and creating a fun, safe, and positive team environment. The Head Mini Cobia Coach plays a key role in building the foundation for long-term swimmer development. Key Responsibilities - Plan and lead daily practices for the 3 different Mini levels, focusing on basic stroke development, water safety, and swim readiness. - Create engaging, age-appropriate practices that emphasize fun, participation, and a love for being in the water. - Teach fundamental swimming skills, including freestyle and backstroke basics, kicking, breathing, and proper body position - Ensure swimmer safety at all times by enforcing pool rules and maintaining appropriate supervision - Communicate effectively with parents regarding swimmer progress and expectations - Coordinate with the Head Coach to discuss when a Mini is ready to move up to the swim team - Prepare Mini swimmers for participation in swim meet Lollipop races in a positive and encouraging manner - Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating enthusiasm, patience, and professionalism Qualifications - Experience working with young children, preferably in a swim team or swim lesson setting. - Strong knowledge of basic swimming skills and stroke fundamentals - Ability to lead groups of young swimmers in a structured yet fun environment - Ability to manage our Mini Helpers (swimmers age 12+ who help with Mini sessions) - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Lifeguard certification (or willingness to obtain before the season begins) Desired Traits - Energetic, patient, and enthusiastic - Organized and dependable - Passion for teaching young swimmers and helping them build confidence in the water - Positive attitude and strong leadership skills Time Commitment - Weekday morning practices from June 18 – July 24 - Occasional Monday evening Lollipop Races before the start of a B swim meet - Coordinate and run our Annual Mini Meet during the last day of practice - Attendance at team meetings and special events as required Interested candidates, please submit your resume to: cottontailcobias@gmail.com |
