| The Overlee Swim Team in Arlington, VA, is seeking an experienced and energetic Head Coach for the 2027 summer season. The Overlee Swim Team is comprised of approximately 240 swimmers aged 5 to 18. Overlee has a long-standing tradition of excellence in the NVSL and a deep commitment to sportsmanship, spirit, and team bonding. The Head Coach will play a pivotal role in leading the Overlee swim team community, ensuring that all swimmers have a fun, rewarding, and competitive experience. The successful candidate will be awarded a contract through September 30, 2027. Responsibilities • Plan and oversee all swim practices from May 12th through July 31st. • Manage and develop the assistant coaching staff, fostering a professional and collaborative team environment. • Lead swimmers across all age groups and skill levels during practices and meets, focusing on skill development, technique in all four strokes, and personal growth. • Organize, including swimmer line up, and coach all competitive and developmental meets, including Saturday morning dual meets and Monday evening developmental meets. • Promote the team’s values of sportsmanship, spirit, leadership, and teamwork. • Coordinate with Overlee Board of Directors, team liaisons and swim team representatives for meet preparations, administrative tasks, and team events. • Lead and be in attendance at all team activities, including pep rallies, age-group bonding activities, and social events. • Collaborate on awards night planning, identifying standout team members, and recognizing achievements. Qualifications • Former coaching experience, either collegiate, club, or NVSL required; NVSL experience as a swimmer or coach preferred. • Lifeguard certification or Swim Coaches Safety Training certification, along with American Red Cross lifesaving and CPR/first aid certifications (Overlee will reimburse one-half of certification/re-certification costs upon completion of the season). • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with an emphasis on teamwork and inclusivity. • Ability to foster an encouraging, fun, and competitive environment for swimmers of all skill levels.
